The project concerns the architectural redesign and expansion of an existing residence of approximately 400 sq.m., following the acquisition and unification of an adjacent plot. The primary design challenge was to merge the two properties into a single, coherent architectural entity, both functionally and aesthetically, while ensuring a seamless integration between the existing building and the new extension.
The new volume was conceived as a natural continuation of the original house, adopting clean geometries and a material palette that directly references the existing structure. At the same time, the façades of the original building were reworked and upgraded in order to achieve a contemporary, unified architectural identity. Natural stone, white surfaces and wooden elements form a common design language that bridges old and new, resulting in a balanced and timeless composition.
The outdoor space plays a central role in the overall concept and is treated as an extension of the interior living areas. The swimming pool is positioned at the heart of the courtyard, organizing the surrounding outdoor functions such as lounge areas, sunbathing zones and the Pavilion. Designed as an independent yet fully integrated structure, the pavilion provides shaded living and support spaces for outdoor activities, while enhancing privacy and spatial hierarchy.
Particular emphasis was placed on the transition between interior and exterior spaces. Large openings, covered semi-outdoor areas and sheltered seating zones allow for a fluid connection and year-round use of both indoor and outdoor environments. The landscape design is completed with subtle level changes, carefully selected planting and integrated lighting, all of which highlight the architecture and enrich the overall living experience.
The final outcome is a contemporary residential ensemble where the existing structure and the new addition coexist harmoniously, offering high-quality living spaces and an enhanced outdoor lifestyle, fully tailored to the needs and daily life of its occupants.
